So this past weekend I went to Senior Bowl with a couple of friends and the first thing we all noticed was how small the crowd was this year. There weren’t too many big name players on the field for this years Senior Bowl and you could tell. Landry Jones, Mike Glennon, and Ryan Nassib were some of the Quarterbacks and none of them were very impressive. The only QB that seemed to do well was Florida State QB E.J. Manuel. After Saturday he might just have found his way on a few teams draft boards.
If you happened to watch the game you should head to Jay Byfield’s Blog http://jbyfield.wordpress.com/2013/01/29/senior-bowl-2013/ where he has a poll up asking who you think raised their draft stock the highest.
Probably not a bad idea. He will always be considered one of the Greats to me so why tarnish the reputation with a couple of crappy seasons to end your career?
So seeing how it is NFL Conference Championship weekend I guess I will write a little about the upcoming match-ups. So far the playoffs have been incredibly exciting to watch. Most of the games have come down to the final minutes to determine the winner and I expect that to be the same this weekend.
AFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME
RAVENS vs PATRIOTS
It has already been stated that this is future Hall of Famer Ray Lewis’ last season in the NFL. The entire Ravens team has been playing with a lot of emotion and wants to end Lewis’s career on a high note. I think the Ravens have a good defense, but I am not too sure about that defense against a proven playoff Quarterback in Tom Brady. The Patriots, once again, have the best offense in the league and average over 34 points per game. Only one other team averaged over 30 points a game and that was the Denver Broncos who took the Ravens into overtime this past weekend in the Divisional Round of the playoffs.
My predicition of this game is the Patriots defeat the Ravens in the Conference Championship by a score of 30-27.
NFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME
49ers vs FALCONS
The Falcons have definitely seemed to put all the pieces together in the passing game this year, but the running game is far from perfect. After finishing 6th in pass yards with 281 y.p.g.*, they finished almost dead last with a meager 87 y.p.g. in the running game. The 49ers have arguably the best defense in the NFL, but the key to this game might end up being newly starting Quarterback Colin Kaepernick. Kaepernick exploded onto the scene after replacing original starting quarterback Alex Smith halfway through the season. Kaepernick has turned an average offense into something special with hit ability to run as a QB, but also still pass with speed and accuracy.
My prediction of this game is a much easier decision than the AFC game. 49ers will win this game 35-17.
* y.p.g. = yards per game
So for the past few days I have been trying to decide on what I want to write my blog about, and I went over hundreds of ideas in my head only to come up empty in the end. That is pretty much me though, over thinking the simplest of tasks and end up getting frustrated.
So that is kind of where I am at right now. It’s 10:30 p.m. on Thursday January 10th and I’m lying in bed on my iPad writing a bunch of random stuff on a blog post. But that is kind of what it’s all about right? Speaking from the heart and sharing your thoughts and opinions of the days events. I spend the majority of my time trying to make things perfect that I miss out on the fact that some things just come naturally.
So I guess what I am trying to say is this is the beginning. The beginning of a blog that has no direction, plan, or purpose. The life of Wesley Korn and the problems I encounter along the way….
