This is an Audio Slideshow assignment that I completed for a college course called New Media Technology. I interviewed the Administrator of the Community Re-Development Agency here in Pensacola and asked her a few questions about what the city government is doing to better the downtown community. The CRA offers many programs and incentives to try and entice new business as well as help improve existing businesses to make sure our downtown stays beautiful.
First of all I would like to remind everyone to follow us on Twitter:
Ok, now that THAT is out of the way. The show tonight was just Wes and Jay and we talked almost the entire show about College Football Recruiting. Our good friend Greg Wise called in with his thoughts on this year’s national signing day and once again we weren’t disappointed with his opinion.
Florida State, Miami, and Clemson were really the only three schools that accomplished anything in recruiting out of the ACC. We discuss the possibility of the ACC faltering as a conference and where they should go from here.
Of course Alabama had the nation’s best recruiting class once again and it appears the the Tide are going to continue to be a strong team and national contender for years to come. During the show we discuss our thoughts on why players want to go to Alabama and if is it worth it if you are a freshman to go to a school that is already packed with talent.
At the tail end of the show we discuss the dominance of the Miami in Men’s College Basketball. They have continued to win in the ACC and appear to be well on their way to a #1 seed in the National Tournament come March.
As always we appreciate all the support an hope to have the new site up running soon. Stay Tuned and help us spread the word!
Jimbo Fisher and the Florida State Seminoles finished in the top ten of the nation for recruiting in the 2013 season with 22 total commits to the football powerhouse. As an FSU fan I wasn’t overly thrilled with this year’s commits, but I do feel that the Seminoles grabbed some key players and stayed competitive with the rest of the nation on National Signing Day. Here a few of the big names:
Matthew Thomas – #1 OLB 6’3″ 205 – Florida State already has one of the best defenses in the country, so the adding of Thomas at linebacker only further solidifies the Seminoles status as a premier defense.
Jalen Ramsey – #4 CB 6’0″ 190 – Florida State put a spear in the hearts of Lane Kiffin and the Trojans by stealing away #4 CB Jalen Ramsey from the West Coast. FSU had to reach all the way to Tennessee to grab Ramsey from Brentwood Academy and he looks to compete for a backup role behind Nick Waisome or Xavier Rhodes.
Ryan Green – #3 ATH 5’0″ 187 – With a 4.45 40-yard dash Green is one of the more electric players that FSU picked up this year in commits. According to scouts he has incredible top-end speed and and extra gear to break away if necessary. Could find himself as a 3rd down back or even safety for the Seminoles in the near future.
Like I said earlier. I’m not crazy excited for this particular class of players, but the key guys FSU did pick up will be able to make an immediate impact on the field. i have made this point before, but just because you are a 5-star recruit doesn’t necessarily mean that you will be a superstar player. There have been a lot of players that have had amazing collegiate and professional careers that were not even looked at coming out of high school. It is all about growing the talent that you have and coaching them the right way, and I hope that Jimbo Fisher and the rest of the coaching staff can make it happen. (although Jimbo still hasn’t hired an offensive coordinator yet)
It’s a LONG way until next college football season, but National Signing Day is the first step to opening kickoff!
So this past weekend I went to Senior Bowl with a couple of friends and the first thing we all noticed was how small the crowd was this year. There weren’t too many big name players on the field for this years Senior Bowl and you could tell. Landry Jones, Mike Glennon, and Ryan Nassib were some of the Quarterbacks and none of them were very impressive. The only QB that seemed to do well was Florida State QB E.J. Manuel. After Saturday he might just have found his way on a few teams draft boards.
If you happened to watch the game you should head to Jay Byfield’s Blog http://jbyfield.wordpress.com/2013/01/29/senior-bowl-2013/ where he has a poll up asking who you think raised their draft stock the highest.
